The University of British Columbia (UBC) is pleased to be partnering with The Mastercard Foundation to foster the next generation of African leaders. The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UBC will provide 171 academically talented young people from Sub-Saharan Africa with access to quality and relevant university education at UBC. After graduating, the scholars will then utilize their learning and experiences to contribute to the economic growth and social transformation of their communities in Africa.

Debbie graduated from the Master of Food and Resource Economics (MFRE) program in 2018. She is now a senior economist at the BC Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation. Her focus is on collecting important data from rural areas and often overlooked communities in the province.
